Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am looking for some good family reads/audios where obedience is throughout. We are really going to focus on this, this year and I would love some suggestions. Now my kids range from 4-16 and I am open to all age books. Thanks Misty

Also, wanted to mention if you have any other good sources for obedience feel free to share!!

"Carry on, Mr. Bowditch" is a good story for that topic. The main character repeatedly gives up his own dreams and plans to obey his father and then his employers.

It's a great story for all ages!

Yes, it is!

I have found the Little House books to be very obedience-oriented from the first book to the last. When Laura and Mary are younger, there are clear consequences when they disobey (same for Almanzo). As Laura matures, she learns to think through her actions and their consequences, and own her decisions to obey.

I have to admit that I missed a lot of the valuable themes in the Little House books the first few times I read them, because I was too young, and I was all about the story. I still read my Little House books regularly, and am more impressed each time I read them.

Whew...glad I'm not the only grown up that truly *LOVES* this series.   I find myself quoting them quite often...even Farmer Boy to my son. My DD 15 has read them through 3x now. I'll likely be starting them with DD 7 this year.
