Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I bought a handful of St. Patrick's Day books at amazon a few weeks ago, but didn't read any of them until yesterday. They were all good, but the real treasure was St. Patrick's Day in the Morning by Eve Bunting and illustrated by Jan Brett. It is about a young boy who everyone says is too young to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade, and I don't want to tell anymore for fear of spoiling it.

It would make a great FIAR/type study, so I'm going to write up some notes while it's fresh in my mind and stick it in my calendar for next March!

Molly, I found this one at the library this year too and it's on my list to buy!! My children loved it and I too was thinking it would make a beautiful rowing unit with other Irish and St. Patrick books. I'd love to see some of your ideas and I'll try to think of what else to add. We love Eve Bunting and Jan Brett books what a great combination!! Maybe you could list out your other fav's that you ordered Thanks for posting this!

Searching the archives for St Patrick book recommendations and surprised to discover we don't seem to have many book recommendations here, or at least not a book thread.

So adding to the above mentioned Eve Bunting book (which I haven't read- do you all recommend it?)
Patrick: Patron Saint of Ireland by Tomie dePaola
and
Patrick: Saint of Ireland by Joyce Denham

I love the above two books, do you have any other St Patrick books to recommend?

Erin, the Bunting book is cute, but it's more related to the Irish American tradition of parades on St. Patrick's Day, not really about St. Patrick.

Those picture books are the ones I have and like, as well. That time in March has such a concentration of St. Patrick, St. Joseph, Annunciation and sometimes Holy Week that I prefer having fewer choices!

Jenn

Well your answer is good in one way means I already have the best on St Patrick. I'm thinking more for St Nicholas day presents and as I'm planning on buying 4 of the Life of a Saint series which cover 4 of my children's patron saints, I thought it would be nice to find a patron saint book for my only other younger child.
