I know this is not healthy or particularly edifying, but come on along... Oreos are celebrating their 100th birthday this year.
Big day - March 6, 2012
I seriously think it would be entertaining to have a little fun with it in the "classroom."
SCIENCE:
I love this idea that I've seen repeated all over Pinterest. Learn about phases of the moon with Oreos. We did this one a few weeks ago at our co-op. It was a hit.
Steve Spangler Science has a slightly different version.
MATH:
Oreo stacking contest. Make a graph of results. Find Average, Mean, Median,Range.
ART:
These are AMAZING! Not that we could do anything this good, but it would be fun to give it a try.
STRATEGY:
Play checkers with oreos - twist apart cookie, one side is cream frosted cookie, the other is plain 
The purpose of this site is to give ideas for educating with Oreos. Lots of lesson ideas here.
What else can you do with Oreos and call it school??

Glad you are joining in the Oreo celebration of learning  .
Another idea I had was use the classic crushed Oreo "dirt cup" and study about worms & composting, soil composition, etc.
That Pioneer Woman has her own version that is different from what I've seen, but really cute.

Oreo fractions: HAve students identify fractions (whole, half and fourth) by scraping off the white icing of an Oreo cookie.

I just ran across this recipe for Mint OREO Cookie Balls for St. Patrick's Day. I'm taking it as a sign that our family must participate in this OREO celebration . So, Mary, how do I justify the cookie balls?...

And add some Oreo recitation or poetry to the tea time and it is serving multiple purposes. Have them write an Oreo poem like the example here.
I definitely think any Oreo treats are going to be legitimate use of time for the birthday celebration. Unfortunately it's during Lent and a few here are going to be affected so we won't do anything except on Sunday.

I love these ideas! I have a 9 yr. old who continually begs for me to buy Oreos and I continually refuse. How delighted will she be when we have a whole day of Oreo activities!

That is the 80's song apparently - I vaguely remember that ones as I was "too" old.
The one I remember from the late 60's/early 70's went like this:
How do you eat an Oreo cookie?
"Well, to do it...you unscrew it,
Very fast
Cuz a kid will eat the middle of an Oreo first,

We had a fun time yesterday with our Oreo celebration. We did the Oreo stacking, the moon phases as well as the sculpting pictures. We also discovered how much weight an Oreo would hold, how far an Oreo would roll down an angled plane and if an Oreo would float. Such fun!
Thank you, Mary, for putting this on my radar. I would have never known about this day if you hadn't posted.

Guess what, Mary? Next week we are scheduled to start reading a section in our science book on Plate Tectonics!!!! Oh, boy!!! I can do Oreo tectonics and everything, lol!!!  Thanks for sharing!

Hey Caroline - Trader Joe's has their Pumpkin Jojos out (healthy Oreo equivalent - no GMO's or HFCS etc, and natural orange color) - they are EXCELLENT for plate tectonics - ask my boys!!!
The TJ's Candy Cane Jojos will be out in a month - my boys are trying to come up with creative oreo science for these!
