Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's been many years since I've planned an All Saints' day party but this year we're going to do this at home as a family:

We had a big hall but this would be very cool outdoors. I made several big tombstones out of cardboard or poster board and decorated them to say RIP or some other appropriate message, along with "the souls of all priests and bishops," "the souls of our great-grandparents," "the souls of all religious," "the souls of all soldiers," etc.etc.

We had dried leaves strewn around and low lights and some low chant in the backround and then we processed through with prayers for each group and then a Litany of the Saints.

We had someone dressed as the angel of death over in the corner hovering around but that might be too much for mostly younger children.

Now they have a wide selection of styrofoam tombstones for not very much and I've bought a couple of Celtic cross ones to leave up through November. I'm thinking of pinning the names on or somehow having them tucked in all around it.

Of course nowadays we go to the actual cemetery on All Souls' but this is still a very effective way to remember the Poor Souls in Nov.
