He has so many books... seems like we are always finding a new one.

Tonight we read "The Bubble Factory", which we'd never read before. The kids loved it just for the pictures- they had to look at every one to see what their favorite bubble creation was.

The 26 Fairmont Avenue series... my ds especially loves those.

Merry Christmas, Strega Nona ~ we like all the Strega Nonas, but of them, this is our favorite and (I think it's called) Strega Nona meets her match is our least favorite.

The 26 Fairmont Avenue ones, of which we have two, we started to read traditionally around New Year's a while back. We stopped a few years ago. I really need to read them to the younger kids.

We just got Clown of God this year and loved it. It made me cry. I'm so hormonal.

I also really like The Legend of the Poisettia, Old Befana, and Merry Christmas Strega Nona. We got to see a Strega Nona stage show at a local theatre this fall!

My daughter, who just donated her hair to Locks for Love, just received Erandi's Braids from the Three Wise Men. It has a bit of Little Women in it. I love the willing sacrifice and the differentiation between needs and wants.

We have the Guadalupe one, which we all like, and we also like the Poinsettias story. Mary Mother of God just doesn't flow "as a story", so while the children look at it it doesn't appeal to have it read. We have Pascual which our 2yo loves, and Clown of God which they both seem more intrigued by than to actually like. We have the Christmas Pageant, which is okay, and Country Angel Christmas which our 2yo likes more than the 6yo or I do.

the popcorn book is a fav around here...means we have to make a bowl or two along with it.

Hmmm...favorite probably is Pascual and the Kitchen Angels.

Most recent favorite is Strega Nona's Harvest.

Also find The Clown of God extremely moving so is the tear-jerker favorite.

Science favorite is The Cloud Book.

Funny favorite is Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato. Makes me laugh and I when I read it with my Irish impression (think bad Leprachaun voice... ) the kids all laugh, too.

And my sentimental favorite is Pancakes for Breakfast - a simple wordless book seldom mentioned. It was my oldest son's favorite when he was about 3-4 and it brings back so many sweet memories (and memories of frequent pancake breakfasts that year ) How do they grow up so fast ...

I forgot this one! We read it every St. Patrick's Day.

Another really good one is Christmas Remembered. I haven't read all of it yet, but the bit I read was really good. MIL got it for dd for Christmas this year. He tells about many of his favorite Christmas memories, from being a small boy all the way up to his recent Christmas's.

I agree that it doesn't read smoothly as a story. We take MMoG in little bites, segment by segment and spread it over as many days. It is a really good tool for learning about Mary.

And HOW could I forget Pascual and the Cloud book and Our Lady of Guadalupe?

That made me laugh. Me, too.

In fact, I dreaded reading it every day for 5 days in a row with the FIAR curriculum. Thankfully, by day 3-4 I could get ahold of myself and just get teary-eyed.
