Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our support group's book club is reading The Good Earth by Pearl Buck in March.

I have been thinking of joining the group, but am wondering if anyone here has read the book and can tell me a bit about it.

If you have read it, what did you think?

Thanks!

I read it in highschool english -- it was an awesome book about China either right before or just after Communism came and how a small village of rice farmers exist.

I STILL remember it and that was .... well, um ..... many, many years ago!

for those of you in or near PA, the pearl s. buck foundation has multi-cultural events that are great for kids to see and experience. last time we went i thought the kids were going to get bored after 2 hours but we ended up staying the whole day. they had dance performances from several countries, books, food, some first-edition prints of The Good Earth were available at the gift shop and lots and lots of fun activities for the kids.
