Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

From today's Mary Vitamin:

Quote:
Mary Vitamin for January 26th

Topic: St. Francis de Sales & Meekness
Feast January 24

Quote:
“A most important means of acquiring interior mildness is to accustom ourselves to perform all our actions and to speak all our words, whether important or not, quietly and gently. Multiply these acts as much as you can in the time of tranquility, and so you will accustom your heart to gentleness.”
St. Francis de Sales, A Year with the Saints, (Tan Books)170.

Meditation:
Saint Louis de Montfort acclaims St. Francis de Sales as one of the greatest Marian saints. The above quote gives evidence to St. Francis de Sales’ diligent study and imitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He has come to know the meekness of the Blessed Virgin who “from day to day … appeared more beautiful … especially in her sweetness.” (Glories of Mary)

Resolution:
St. Francis doesn’t ask me to be mild immediately. He says to practice meekness when it is easy so that it becomes a habit, a virtue. Today, I will practice speaking mildly when it is easy, so that I may develop the habit of meekness in imitation of Our Lady, even when it is difficult.

Marian Vow:
St. Francis de Sales has wise words for one consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary: “So we must not only use gentle words towards our neighbors but must be filled with gentleness, that is, our very inmost soul.
St. Francis de Sales, Introduction to the Devout Life, (Tan Books),142.

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.

That *was* a beautiful Mary Vitamin! It was so encouraging and affirming to me. It ties interior mildness to speaking quietly and gently, both of which are Marian qualities.

I love how today's practice is to speak mildly when it is *easy* to do so....in order to develop the habit. So doable and encouraging....and just what I need right now.

This is such a beautiful expression...filled with gentleness in our very inmost soul.

Interior gentleness. Exterior mildness. = Goal for the day!
