Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Would anyone like to share ideas for celebrating the Baptism of the Lord this Sunday, January 11?

I was thinking of making small photo albums for each kiddo with pictures of their baptism so that we can look at the pictures and talk about the day.

I am still looking for a good picture book about John the Baptism and Jesus or baptism in general if anyone has any ideas.

Actual photos are a great idea. We get out our baptism candles and use them as a centerpiece on the table but I like the photo idea as well.

Thanks.

I'm thinking maybe some symbols of baptism in our meal...shells are always used for baptism, so I thought I'd do stuffed shells...water symbolizes us being washed clean, so I thought I'd do sparkling water spritzers, then there's the whole covered in white thing...maybe white chocolate covered pretzles or cookies dipped in white chocolate.

What about a centerpiece? Maybe someone can flesh out my idea of having a little "banks of the Jordan" on a tray (sand, rocks)with a smaller tray of water in the center and all the Baptismal candles surrounding that. I love the meal ideas!
