Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This thread froma few years back has some picture book selections. Veteran's Day

A popular one that is frequently mentioned is America's White Table.

In Flanders Fields: The Story of the Poem by John McCrea is about WWI and the famous poem and the tradition of veterans selling the paper poppies on Veteran's Day.

It is also St. Martin's feast day - if you search that or Martinmas there are some great suggestions for activities as well as some books which tie the two together.

And there are lots of great picture books covering different wars from our history. If you search a particular war in the search feature here you should find some ideas.

I haven't read it yet, but I put Veteran's Day on hold at our library.

H is for Honor looks interesting, but our library doesn't carry it.

This was a good read for Veteran's Day. DH read it to the girls last week. Thanks for mentioning it, Michaela.

Through the intercession of St. Martin of Tours, may all Veteran's be blessed!
