Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sounds great! I think I'm on the brink of going "radical" in our simplifying. Don't tell my dh, LOL. (he's fine as long as I don't touch his stuff)

I would love if you would keep posting here too - I tend to lose track of things when they get to blogs. I read them, but then it all blends together

Day 1. I did a quick little spiff-up on one of the shelves in my office. Took about 10 minutes.

Looking great Darcee! I've done nothing worth photographing, but I did fill about 1/2 a large black garbage back with "donatables" from assorted areas of the house.

Oooh. I am up for a challenge. I am going to try to declutter in 6 weeks. Thanks for posting about it. It helps to know others are working on it too.

I'm in the middle of mine - well, should be working more intently, but am here instead. Right now my house is in that awful, overwhelming state where everything is scattered as I sort and decide. I'm trying to be brutal about getting rid of stuff. We took a whole mess of kiddie toys to the church garage sale, and I have a list on our homeschool site of books to give away or sell - some which turned out to be duplicates.

Back to organizing for me!

We are also doing this. Great idea. We are cleaning/decluttering a little each day. This week we've done work in the kitchen and kids rooms. Much better-much to be done.

Organizing and decluttering is a goal of mine this summer, too (actually pretty much every summer). I will be late starting this, though due to a busy week and just getting back in town. I hope to start next Monday and I'll post back here when I make some progress.

So much needs decluttered, the question now is.....where to begin ?

I didn't think I'd be able to start until Monday, but I actually started today! I posted about it here, with pictures . I didn't get everything done that I had hoped, but my back tells me it was enough for one day. And there's always tomorrow.

I went through my linen closet and got rid of 2 bags full of towels last week.

This morning, I went through DH's sock drawer and threw out about 1/2 of his socks! Then I went through the boys underwear and socks and culled the ones that no longer fit, were stained, or the elastic was shot.

I went on to the t-shirts and filled a bag with perfectly fine t-shirts that just didn't fit anymore!

Next is going through the baby's clothes and I may even tackle my dresser this week!

Looking good! I've been filling up bags and boxes as I come across things, but I'm afraid that if I try to make it an organized effort I'll be overwhelmed by the volume of stuff we should get rid of. Clothes are my biggest project...particularly putting away winter clothes and boxing up the cold season things that we are going to give away in September. (I know I should be done with that by now, but I'm not ). My youngest girl is turning 5 so we've been handing all the girls clothes down to friends who can use them, now. We're also cleaning out the kids rooms as we upgrade/rearrange beds...which includes giving away one of the two cribs that have been functioning as laundry baskets since my 3yo is now in the bottom of a bunkbed that my husband's co-worker just gave us and my 18mo old still sleeps with me...

Stephanie,

It is hard to get rid of those little clothes, especially if you think there will be no more littles. It sounds like you are doing a great job clearing out and organizing.

Great job everyone!

Today the girls and I went through things and now have two large garbage bags and two diaper boxes full of old magazines, books, toys, and a few clothes. The charity truck comes Wednesday morning so I have another 24 hours to be ruthless.
