Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have some good picture book titles to share with strawberries or raspberries as a theme? We love Blueberries for Sal but was wondering if there is an equivalent book with strawberries or raspberries as a theme?

Strawberries are in season here and raspberries will be come the first of July. We are all set to go picking and I thought it would be fun to have some books to read.

Thanks.

My favorite strawberry book is The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear. It is so cute.

Other fun strawberry books:
Saving Strawberry Farm

Cook-a-Doodle-Doo

It's not a story book or fiction (like Blueberries for Sal) but Gail Gibbons books are always fun, brightly illustrated, and interesting. This one has great info on all kinds of berries.
The Berry Book

And I found this one that looks interesting. It's a retelling of an Yu'pik Eskimo folktale.

Wonderful! Thank you, I was able to put most of them on hold at the library.

Thank you, thank you.

This is one of our favorites! My two year old loves going about saying, "Boom, Boom, Boom" and then sniffing!

For the older crowd, I have "The Compleat Strawberry" by Stafford Whiteaker. Yes, that is how it is spelled on the book. It is filled with pictures, art, poems, songs, herbal remedies, gardening tips and recipes!

This morning, I was wandering along, minding my own business, when I came across this:

Jamberry Lapbook

Perfect timing, huh?

I'm not very brave either.
But I duly made note of this book in the recipe section of PPC.

It was a great thread, full of wonderful titles. I'm right in the middle of canning again too. We had to buy The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear. Jamberry was also a must have. The Berry Book by Gail Gibbons had a great recipe for homemade ice cream.

Oh, we just read this book last night, and it is SOO SUPER!!!! Highly recommended. Depression era, but so perfect for summer, also truly touching.
