Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This isn't a "story" picture book, but the pictures in it are just gorgeous and the text curls around on the pages. The book is beautiful to look at, and a young child could do just that without reading. For those who want to read the text, it would make a great addition to a botany (and other nature or science) study.

She has written another equally gorgeous book called An Egg is Quiet.

Oh my, yes, a lovely book. We love both the egg and seed book. Janette perfect timing. This is a great time of year to focus on seeds in their dormant (sleepy)state in preparation for the growing season. We'll be starting some seedlings indoors late next month. Perfect reminder!

I found these fun time lapse videos of seeds sprouting. This radish one is very cool. And this one from an old Sesame Street show is really nostalgic.

We love both of these! In fact, we have them out right now...

Another lovely one on birds is: Birds build nests

Thanks for the fun videos, MaryM!

Yes, Birds Build Nests (by Yvonne Winer ) is a beautiful poetic book! It's on my favorite list too.

Other beautiful books in that series:
Frogs Sing Songs
Spiders Spin Webs
Butterflies Fly

Thanks for the tip, Janette. I just ordered it! Should go well with our botany unit in the spring!

I love that book too! So much, that it was my Picture Book of the Day a few weeks back.

Ruth, your keyword section is so much more descriptive than mine! I'm combining the posts to keep it all together.

Ruth, this is a perfect book for this time of year. If you hadn't posted, it wouldn't have gotten bumped.
