Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A couple more thoughts:

A cupcake rosary would be a great dessert.

Jenn, that is BRILLIANT!!!!! I am going to do this with my Little Flowers group.

That is brilliant -- I love it! I love the mini-muffin idea, too, Mary. You guys are so inspiring ... now I've got to do this with my homeschool group ....

Alice, I love the suncatcher-Rosary idea, too. How creative, and I'm sure it was beautiful.

My ds has been telling everyone all day that it is Mary's birthday. Then he likes to inform them he means Jesus' Mom not his own Mom!!

I found a great idea in Family Fun magazine to make "roses" to put on cupcakes. You could add these roses to the "rosary cupcakes."

We made the roses a few weeks ago. It isn't too hard but it takes a bit of patience. You need "Fruit by the Foot" the ones that are cut down the middle in a wavy pattern (you can see it on the box). Multi-colored ones look really nice when you are finished.

Peel one half from the paper and start rolling the tip, then you just wrap it around and around, every now and then pinching about a fourth of an inch so that you don't get all the waves bunched in one area.

The tighter you roll them the more they look like buds rather than open roses, so you need to go looser rather than tighter. Keep the bottom slightly pinched as you go to help keep the petals more open.

I have pictures of them uploaded on my Flickr account
Krisann's Flickr Projects Set

Here is the link on FamilyFun.com
These are done on mini-cupcakes, mine were done on full-size cupcakes.

Another neat project they had in Family Fun was Chocolate covered peanut butter lady bugs. Lady bugs are named for Mary. Our Lady's Bug & Lady Bug Legends and Lore!

Today's activities: My ds and dd have a town they've been working on for months upstairs. It's called Little Way. They have decorated their church in Little Way for Mary's Birthday and are hosting a Mary Fair up there this afternoon (for me). We're making a special dessert (lemon pudding cake, gluten free) for our tea time this afternoon. For a craft, I bought two porcelain tiles (white) for about .50 to $1.00 each at Home Depot. We're going to make a Mary plaque by gluing on some pictures of Mary and using glitter glue and stickers. They can then set their plaques on a small picture easel on their dressers in their bedrooms. Hope you all have a wonderful day! Thank you for all the inspiration!
