Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just found this on EWTN's information in the making of the Advent Wreath.

It talks about each candle representing:

"Use gold paint to write on the bows the candles’ traditional names, those of four Advent people: Isaiah, St. John the Baptist, St. Joseph, and Mary."

Can anyone tell me of the connection of these 4 Advent people to the candles?

Many thanks, Anne

I have no idea? I know each week is supposed to have a focus, Hope, Peace, Joy, Love. But I have never heard anything about the "Advent People" before....

What a Godincidence, Anne. I just posted this quote that talks about the names of the Advent Candles.

Except for Joseph, the people all reflect the Gospels for each Sunday in Advent, and are the key figures in the Liturgy of Advent. I had not read this anywhere else, so I'm excited that you saw it on EWTN.
