Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We only need 6 more people! The ornaments can be as simple as you'd like. If you need some help figuring out what you would do before signing up, please let me know - or ask here, I'm sure we could brainstorm some ideas!

I would love to do this.

1. heart
2. whale
3. scroll

Also, Lorri, do you have a scripture reference for these? I am going to need a reference for the symbol when i am doing this with the kids! Are these symblols ones from a specific book. I have seen several lists for the ornaments and they are not always the same.

Thanks for organizing this!

Thanks, Tracy.

And yes, there is a specific scripture for each symbol. There is a booklet that I will forward to everyone when we have everyone set up. It has the readings to go with each symbol. I was just waiting to do one mass email instead of 28 individuals. The list we're using is from "Faith and Family" magazine.

I have you down for the heart.

Lorri, you may be covering this in your mass e-mail, but I was just thinking that we might need a size range to go by so we we don't have tiny ones and huge ones on the same tree. Watcha think?

Yes, the ornaments should be between 1-3 inches.

I have been away from the boards for a while. Our family would love to participate if there are still any ornaments left to make! We'll take whatever is left...Thank you!

I would like to do this, but I am not a crafty person and have no idea how to go about doing it. If someone could give me suggestions or pointers I would love do it.

Here is the list of what is left. I am still waiting to hear back from a couple of people about what they want to do, but your symbol would be one of these:

Earth
Sheaf of Wheat
Scroll
Dove & Crown
Stick W/bronze serpent

For the earth, you really could buy earth bouncy balls (I found them online for about .75 each) and figure out a way to stick a hook into them. Here

For the scroll, you could get some Sculpey clay in a beige, parchment color, roll some out into a thin rectangle, about 2 inches high and 5 inches long. Then you could get 2 sticks, either thin dowels or even make them out of brown Sculpey, and roll them up, one on each end of the rectangle. You would just make it look like a piece of paper with each end rolled towards the center. Something like this Poke a hole in towards the top for a string or ribbon, and bake them.

Stick with bronze snake - get a stick or a dowel, some bronze colored pipe cleaners, some Sculpey (again!) and some bronze acrylic paint. Cut the stick to about 3 inches tall. Shape snake heads out of the sculpey, maybe put beads in for eyes. Stick pipe cleaners into the snake head and bake. When done, paint the snake bronze and twist the pipe cleaner around the stick and trim.

Or for any of them, you can find some nice images to print out and decoupage on to small wooden discs. You'd need to make sure they were waterproof though, so the image doesn't run. You might be able to find little sheaves of wheat at the craft store and just tie ribbons on them so that they can be hung up. I'd try to get fake ones so they will hold up over time.

Hi Lorri,
I got your PM earlier in the day and will do the scroll. Just wanted to make sure that was still okay since you had it down as still needed...Thank you!
